OUR MISSION

The mission of CHF is to actively participate in and promote sustainable development of the villages of Chitrapur and Shirali in the State of Karnataka, India and at the same time contribute towards the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the Chitrapur Saraswat community.

There are many ways you can give to CHF and help achieve its objectives.

Why was CHF started

CHF believes that a vibrant local economy is a sine-qua-non for cultural preservation and that education and women’s economic empowerment underpin sustainable local development. Recognizing that access to quality education is a fundamental right, CHF supports the post-primary education of 100 students at the Srivali High School through a Sponsor-A-Student Scheme.

Unlocking the entrepreneurial talents and skills of women for their economic empowerment is a goal of the Parimochana Project and CHF is an active supporter of the micro-finance schemes put in place to finance women’s self-help groups and small-scale farmers in the villages of Chitrapur and Shirali. CHF promotes Chitrapur Saraswat Heritage by supporting temple restoration projects and maintenance of Swami Parijnanashram Vastu Sangrahalaya (Chitrapur Museum), as well as traditional cultural and religious activities of Chitrapur Math in India through the collection of Vantiga, and raising funds for sustainable community development activities.

In the United States, CHF chapters facilitate and support celebration of monthly Satsang, Ugadi, Ram Navami, Dassera / Durga Puja, Diwali and other traditional community functions. CHF Chapters are presently located in Kendall Park, New Jersey in the East; Houston, Texas in the South; Dearborn, Michigan in the Mid-West; and San Jose, California in the West.
